Ways to supplement your support

If you are interested (this is not mandatory) in supplementing your support. In other words, if you want to do something else in addition to writing your support letter, here are some ideas that I or other team members have tried out.

1. Candy or Snack sales. I have been doing this at the high school I work at. I purchase the snacks (chex mix, cheddar goldfish, fruit snacks, pop tarts, and pita chips) all at Costco. I usually make $15 to $20 on each case of snacks that I sell.

2. Ribbon Sales. Three of my students came up with this idea. They made 500 red ribbons which was an investment of 4 hours and $40. We have been selling the ribbons for $1. At this point we have sold 200 ribbons.

3. Have a Submarine Party in which you purchase a super sized sub (6 - 12 feet) and each person sponsors their slice of the sub. If you tell the sub company about the trip and ask, you probably would receive a hefty discount on the price of the sub.

4. One of our team members going this year is selling pizza kits through little caesars.

5. Talk - Talk - Talk - Let people know about your trip. Your excitement will rub off. I have been totally surprised when people who were complete strangers are compelled to action and write a check or make a cash donation. It is a REALLY cool experience.

Let me know if you have any other ideas or if you have tried something else out. You can contact me at tracysbluehouse@yahoo.com.

Financial Support

We welcome financial support for the 2008 MOT. This year we will need to raise at least $52,800 as a team in order for the trip to take place. The funds are used in a myriad of ways: airfare (even our coach tickets are expensive), meals, electricity, water, lodging, guard dogs, transportation, specific needs of Africa Christian Ministries, and medications such as antibiotics, antiparasitics, and other prescription medications.

You can easily contribute in a couple of ways:
(1) Contact someone on the team and let them know you would like to support them. They will provide you with a letter about the trip, a donation form, and the specific details about who to make the check out to. These donations are tax-deductible if paid by check.
(2) Via the the Web with your credit card at the Africa Christian Ministries website. Please make sure to include that you are designating the funds for the 2007 MOT or for a specific team member.

We thank you for considering supporting us financially.
